Nolan Keller — mission status

When the author rallies.

MISSION PROGRESS

Nolan Keller is a modern techno-thriller set in Appalachia, in the fictitious town of Marrow Creek.

Back in the saddle this week. The story moved forward in satisfying ways. It was like the 'ping' of the M1 Garand. But lots of way lies ahead.

I'm in what authors refer to as the 'muddled middle'. It's a hard part of the story to write because you have to keep interest up, why unfolding the plot of the story. It can be a lot of fun, but it's not as exciting as writing THE END.

DORWINE

GoboCon is just two weeks away. I'm pretty excited. Some of you saw my post on facebook with 30 little plastic Anuka's on display. That's part of a little surprise for those who purchase books at the Convention.

My second event is practically in my backyard. Its The Old Washington Festival. April 4th, starting at 10am in Maysville, Kentucky. It's a neat sort of pioneer throwback festival.

Sit Rep

  • Nolan Keller 1 - Jack Adkins 1. The old man can take a punch.
  • I did some research by reading some other Thrillers this week. I read Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter. It's the first book in her Grant County Series. This one was pretty brutal. I enjoyed it, and I learned a lot about character development. Karin is a master. Check it out: Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter
  • I'm aiming for April 30th to have draft 1 of The Devil on Klack Mountain completed.
  • The Dorwine Trilogy is going to be a thing. We've all seen the pretty books in bookstores. Heck, I can't walk past the book isle in Walmart without picking a stunning book. What kinds of things get you excited about premium books? Sprayed edges? Stenciled designs? Foiled covers? Let me know: [email protected]

I’ll share specific dates when I have them. Until then, I’m keeping this focused on real progress.

Gear Feature

I'm too big to conceal carry

I got this response after a recent newsletter where I talked about holsters. It's a valid point. Not everyone can slip a Kydex inside their belt comfortably, and many of us can't possibly conceal OWB.

Here's my solution: Belly Band

It much like it sounds. I got mine from WeThePeople.com. They have different sizes and simple instructions on how to use them.

Even if you aren't like Tommy Callahan and have what doctors call "a bit of a weight problem" the Belly Band is still a viable option. It's comfortable and easy to conceal.

Quick Dorwine Note

If you originally found me through The Dragons of Dorwine: Dorwine isn’t being erased. I’ll share meaningful updates when there’s something concrete to report. For now, these emails stay focused on Nolan Keller.

Thanks again for being here. If you ever want fewer updates, just reply and tell me—I’d rather adjust than burn goodwill.
